We are a small, independent theatre company based in Ludlow, Shropshire. We are dedicated to bringing challenging and entertaining productions to rural theatres across the West Midlands.
We have, to-date, produced over forty plays – gracing the stages of all the main theatres throughout the region, as well as castles, stately homes and even a brewery! – and are utterly thrilled that 2023 marked our 10th anniversary!
2022 saw us staging the classic comedy The Ladykillers at The Courtyard Theatre in Hereford – which involved the creation of a two-storey revolving set! – and in July the West End & Broadway hit-comedy ART by Yasmina Reza at both The Conquest Theatre in Bromyard & The Assembly Rooms in Ludlow, we headed over to the beautiful & intimate setting of the Coach House Theatre in Malvern to stage both God of Carnage by Yasmina Reza in September and The Permanent Way by David Hare in November/December.
2023 started at the Coach House Theatre in Malvern for the premier of Hedda, a brand new version of Henrik Ibsen’s classic Hedda Gabler written by our Artistic Director, Andrew Whittle, before staging the powerful & bitterly comic Bad Roads by Natal’ya Vorozhbit at Birmingham’s The Blue-Orange Theatre in May. We then returned to the Coach House theatre in June for Roger McGough’s delightful reworking of Moliére’s The Misanthrope followed by a revival of our production of God Of Carnage at Theatre Severn in Shrewsbury.
2024 saw us presenting productions outside of the West Midlands for the first time with a tour of Hedda covering five cities: Nottingham, Manchester, Scunthorpe, Bristol and Exeter along with a new version of The Cherry Orchard in the early autumn in Worcester, Hereford and Shrewsbury. This was followed by the highly-acclaimed The Weir in Malvern in November.
2025 opened with a lively new production of Goldsmith’s She Stoops To Conquer once again in Malvern. Then, in August, also at The Coach House in Malvern and outdoors at The Tuckwell Amphitheatre in Cheltenham, we presented George Bernard Shaw’s Saint Joan. Meanwhile Hedda was out on tour once again, this time to three venues in Ireland (Republic and Northern). Finally for the year we returned to Cheltenham, this time inside at The Bacon Theatre, to present our first foray into music-themed theatre with Peter Shaffer’s Amadeus.
2026 saw us launch our first ever full season of plays – the first two in Malvern: Di and Viv and Rose in February and Travels With My Aunt in May, before we settle in to our new permanent home at The Bacon Theatre in July with an exciting new take on Twelfth Night (Bermuda in the 1960s) followed in the autumn by a fresh new version of Oscar Wilde’s masterpiece The Importance Of Being Earnest. With Andrew Whittle’s new version of August Strindberg’s The Father rounding off the year.
