Lawrence Olivier Award Winner for Best Comedy, God of Carnage by Yasmina Reza (who also wrote ART!) sees two married couples meet to discuss a scuffle between their sons.
Intending to have a civilised, grown-up conversation on how to handle the situation, the application of alcohol, and their own idiosyncrasies coming to the fore, sees the evening soon descend into name-calling and tantrums, as they each gradually degenerate into children themselves.
Boys will be boys, but adults are usually worse – much worse.
Directed by Roman Polanski in the Hollywood remake (‘Carnage’, 2011), it saw Jodie Foster and Kate Winslet both pick up nominations for Best Actress at the Golden Globe Awards for their hilarious portrayals of the disgruntled mothers.
